It's early morning and we are back on US 64 heading west. But not far; nearby is the Shiloh National Military Park. This is a must stop.
We drove down to the Visitor Center
but did not have time to spend the day. This goes on the list for a future visit. On the way out we stopped at several monuments.
We discovered one marked the position on General John McArthur, 2nd Brigade, 24th Division, Army of Tennessee (US).
Members of our family served in the Army of Tennessee; I wonder if General John McArthur
is a relative?
From the Shiloh battlefield we traveled across southern Tennessee eventually getting on Interstate 40 near Memphis. Unfortunately about the only we we could get across the Mississippi River was by taking the Interstate. We stopped at
Red Lobster for lunch and then crossed into Arkansas.
Driving on without referring to our altas we missed our exit in West Memphis and had to drive further into Arkansas on I-40. We successfully made our way to Village Creek State Park
near Wynne, Arkansas for our next lay over.
While at the campsite it was nice for everyone
to relax a bit
and enjoy the setting.
We even got showers in the bath house.
